1. Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum

3. Vilakazi Street

Everyone who visits Soweto must take a trip down Vilakazi Street – the most popular place in Soweto. The street is named after poet and novelist Dr B.W. Vilakazi - the first black man to teach at Wits - and is where Nobel laureates Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmund Tutu lived. Vilakazi is also known for its great restaurants. Visitors can tuck into the local cuisine served at popular restaurants like Nambitha and Sakhumzi.

4. Credo Mutwa Cultural Village

Located in the heart of Soweto, the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village is a museum-cum-outdoor exhibition of astounding sculptures and buildings created by African artist and traditional healer Credo Mutwa. The sculptures are steeped in tradition and African folklore and include mythical creatures, Zulu chiefs and tribal dwellings.

5. Soweto Bicycle Tours
