MasterChef South Africa
judge, Pete Goffe-Wood, will share the stage with Nederburg
‘s Danie Morkel at this year’s Soweto Wine &
Lifestyle Festival in September. They will present the winery’s
now famous Taste Theatre, a fascinating journey of flavours.
The member of Nederburg’s Winemaster team and the
master of the kitchen will combine forces to show festival
goers why some wine and food pairings seem heaven-matched
and others less so. Blending entertainment, fun and common
sense they will use a selection of Nederburg’s Winemaster’s
Reserve wines and basic, widely-available food ingredients
to demonstrate food and wine pairing. They will also be
inviting questions and opinions from the audience, who will
be encouraged to share their own experiences of wine and
food pairing favourites and fiascos.
Their joint appearance comes a week ahead of the MasterChef
South Africa finals, when Goffe-Wood and his colleagues,
Benny Masekwameng and Andrew Atkinson, will announce the
choice of South Africa’s new MasterChef .
Nederburg is the sole official wine sponsor of the popular
series for a second successive year.
The Taste Theatre that forms part of the festival venue,
will accommodate guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
The presentations will be staged at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00
on the Thursday and Friday, and at 17:30, 18:30, 19:30 and
20:30 on the Saturday.
An exciting collection of wines will be available for tasting
at Nederburg’s exhibition stand, including the acclaimed
Ingenuity blends, as well as the popular Winemaster’s
Reserve range of wines and the new generation, super-smooth
drinking 56HUNDRED wines. Baronne, one of South Africa’s
top-selling reds that celebrates its 40th birthday this
year, will also be showcased.
Late last year, the coveted Diners Club of the Year Award
went to Nederburg. The winery was also judged the most successful
South African Winery at the International Wine & Spirit
Competition in London.
