South African Chardonnay judged Best in World

At the 2015 Chardonnay du Monde Awards, Groot Constantia’s 2013 Chardonnay beat over 800 wines from across the world to be judged best overall.

The 22nd annual Chardonnay du Monde Awards (meaning 'Chardonnay of the world') took place at Château des Ravatys in the Burgundy region of France from 11th to 14th of March 2015.

The international competition saw 826 wine samples from 41 countries judged by a panel of 300 expert judges.

After four days of judging, 275 medals were awarded to 826 of the wines entered.

Groot Constantia’s 2013 Chardonnay proudly represented South Africa as one of only two Chardonnay’s from the country to feature in the top 56 and to receive a gold medal.

The other South African brand awarded gold was Cape Legends’ Fleur de Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay.
